Listings Project Refresh
Redesign two key experiences, the login flow and the Services Offered section, so users can seamlessly find and engage with listings.
Role: Product/UX Designer
Team: 1 engineer and 1 copywriter
Tools: Figma
My contributions
Analyzed the current login flow and services offered listings to pinpoint opportunities for improvement
Conducted competitive audits to identify best in class experiences
Led card sorting activities to create the services offered section
Context
At Listings Project, listings — whether real estate, services offered or jobs and gigs — are our only product. We have two types of users: listing posters and listing responders. Posters are those who list their homes, services, etc., a.k.a. how we make our revenue. Second are our responders, those who reply to the posters’ listings. The higher the poster engagement means a greater likelihood they will repost — thus increasing our revenue.
The Problem
Users come to ListingsProject.com to find listings. However, the previous site design made it difficult to find listings.
In the previous design:
1) Users could not browse listings unless they were signed in. Listings were essentially behind a sign-in wall, causing many users to bounce having not been able to find listings.
2) Services Offered listings were hidden within the Opportunities category and users complained these were hard to find or not viewable in the current category system.
I set out to create a new experience to surface all listings without requiring the user to sign in while also highlighting the Services Offered section.
Goals
We also wanted to elevate Listings Project’s efficacy by accomplishing these goals:
The Login Flow Process
The goal of the new log-in flow was to engage users with listings without having to sign in. However, there was still value in requiring users to create an account. With this in mind, I started my design process as follows:
The Services Offered Redesign Process
The goal of the Services Offered redesign was to extract it from the Opportunities section to mirror our Real Estate and Jobs & Gigs sections. With this in mind, I began the design process as follows:
Key Takeaways from Audits
Create a separate entry point into Services Offered
Leverage copy to ensure clear distinction between Jobs & Gigs and Services Offered
Underscore our philosophy built on trust and transparency by redesign Services Offered to include rates
Recommend other profiles within the page
Final Designs
After several design iterations and workshops, the following are the final designs for a user trying to engage with listings via the login experience and in the Services Offered section.
